The country of Cyprus is an island, located in the Mediterranean Sea. In this area, Cyprus is the third largest island after Sicily and Sardinia. The neighbor countries of Cyprus are Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Israel, Egypt, and Greece. Because of its location, Cyprus is usually considered as one of the Middle East countries.
The capital city of Cyprus is Nicosia, which is also the largest city in this country. Cyprus is a Republic, and it joined the EU in 2004. This country is divided into six divisions or districts which are Nicosia (Lefkosia), Ammochostos (Famagusta), Keryneia (Kvrenia), Larnaka (Larnaca), Lemesos (Limassol), and Pafos (Paphos).
The areas of Cyprus are covered by mountains, plains, as well as beaches. The landscapes of Cyprus are known for its beauty, making it an ultimate tourist attraction. Many visitors like to drive around or take a walking tour in Cyprus and go across the hills, forests, the streams, etc.
About the climate, Cyprus is considered to have wonderful temperature all year round. Because of its location, this country tends to stay warm almost all the time. The winter season in this country does not bring much snow, but it rains a lot. In some mountains, for example Troodos, people usually get snow every winter, making Cyprus also one of the winter holiday destinations. In the summer, the temperature is considerably hot, sometimes could be up to 40 degree Celsius. In Troodos, during the summer some lower parts also have warm weather but it is usually cooler. In the fall, people can still enjoy the warm sunshine, and some people also say that the fall season is the perfect time to visit Cyprus because the temperature is not as extreme as in the summer. Also, in many parts of Cyprus people do not have to wear very thick clothes as the temperature ranged about 15-19 degrees in the winter.
